Icarus winced in pain as Bryna pushed him up, trying to support the part of his body that was now useless due to his broken leg. He yelped and fell as his other legs started giving out from all the stress and work they were doing. "I... I can't Bryna..." He panted, flopping over on his side. He felt pathetic. Here he was, in front of the most beautiful wolf in the whole world, and he was flopping around like a fish out of water. "I... I can't make it back to the cave alone... Please, let's just stay here tonight." She gave him a questioning look and motioned to the open field they were in. "Well, in this general area at least. Look, there's a lake over there, why don't we try and make our way over to it?" Exerting every last muscle in his body, he forced himself up and, with Bryna at his side, they slowly inched towards the lake.
It was a few minutes before they actually arrived, but Icarus couldn't have been happier when they did. He fell over right into the lake, making a huge splash and getting the water all over Bryna. He couldn't help but laugh. Despite his overwhelming pain, the area of the forest they were in was beautiful. The lake was surrounded by a little circle of trees, and beyond them was the field they had moved from. Behind them, the trees went further back into a new forest that Icarus didn't know anything about, but he had a strange feeling it was a good place. "Bryna... Thanks" He wanted to tell her he loved her, but last time the topic was brought up, she had told him it was too soon after her run in with Zuke, who raped her and left her broken and alone. Icarus had found her and literally saved her life. They had been best friends ever since, but Icarus wanted so much more...

Bryna frowned and watched Icarus helping him the best she could. There was little she could do besides walk beside him and help support his weight. She didn't mind helping as he had already done so much to help her. She enjoyed his company and felt safe around him. Frowning a bit more she nodded as he spoke. "You aren't alone though..since I'm right here..but we can rest here for the night....I'm getting a bit tired myself." Bryn continued to walk slowly beside him helping him over to the lake.
She jumped in shock when Icarus fell over into the water and soaked her automatically shaking out her fur to rid her coat of the water. She frowned a bit but laughed a little as well she wasn't thrilled with being soaked. She shook her head a little as she listened to him talk "there is no reason to thank me..that's what friends are for, to help out when you need it." She laid down on the beach and watched him trying to relax somewhat. "If you need help just let me know and I'll help you out of the lake."

Icarus was so tired that he would've been fine with sleeping in the stream, but he wanted Bryn to touch him again. So he did what any male in his right mind would do and said "You know, I think I might want to sleep on dry land tonight." He watched as Bryn got up and moved to his side. With every pawstep his heart beat faster and when she arrived his motions felt clumsy and awkward. They were clumsy and awkward, but moreso than normal. Even though this new forest seemed to suck all the lust out of him, he still wanted Bryn as a mate. Pretending his leg gave way, he stumbled, then fell, pushing her over and landing on top of her. "Oops... Sorry." When Bryna tried to move he conjured up a fake yelp and pleaded "Bryn, can't we just sleep close together like this?" It was then that he remembered that he was soaking wet! He knew the answer would probably be know, so instead he tried "Or can you at least try to dry me off?"

Bryna smiled a little bit and got up walking slowly over to the water to help Icarus out. She walked slowly next to him helping him support his weight and get out of the cold water. The last thing either of them needed at the moment was to catch a cold from being cold and wet. Bryna grunted softly in pain as Icarus' leg gave out and he fell into her pushing her over before landing on top of her. She pushed the pain aside not wanting Icarus to know that she was hurting.
Nodding a little she said quietly trying to hide the pain in her voice "lets get you dried off a little bit before we go to bed and....I suppose...it wouldn't hurt to sleep closer together for tonight...just for safety and warmth.." She thought she had done a good job of hiding her pain. The pain was starting to fade after all so Bryna didn't think it was something that she needed to worry about right now though perhaps the fall wasn't good for the pups and that was the problem..she didn't think they would have felt it though as they were only a few weeks into their development. As she got lost in her thoughts Bryna began to lick the water out of his hair wanting to get him as dry as possible before the night began to cool off more with the setting sun.

Icarus shivered as her tongue traced his body, lapping up the moisture in his fur. The best part was that she wanted to sleep by him too! He really wanted them to move away from the "Just friends" catergory and more into the "I love you and mate with you" catergory. However, these types of things can't be rushed, and Icarus knew full well how terrible the outcome could be if he rushed. So he just sat there, enjoying her tongue on his back, drifting off into a deep, calm sleep.
He awoke the next morning to find Bryn snuggled up in the curl made by his body. She was on his leg, but fortunately it was the non-broken one, and he was able to lay there, with his one love sleeping curled up next to his chest. Now was one of the times he really wished they were mates. However, they weren't. They were just friends. All they ever were, and most likely, all they ever would be. Dismayed at the thought of her not returning his love, he gently slid his paw out from under her and went for a walk.
His leg was much better today, and even supported him as he walked through the forest. He wasn't about to do any acrobatics or anything, but at least it worked. After a few hours, he decided to go back and check on Bryn. However, when he returned to the lake, she was gone.

Bryna smiled as Icarus drifted off to sleep. Once she was sure he was mostly dry she curled up against him slowly falling asleep herself. She slept peacefully and didn't wake or even stir when Icarus wandered off in the morning. Slowly she began to wake and yawned softly stretching a bit before standing and stretching more cringing at the slight pain she felt. After having been awake for several moments she realized that she was alone and wondered where Icarus had gone.
After sniffing around for several moments Bryn decided to go hunting to try and find a meal for herself and Icarus. She wandered back into the woods and tall grass hoping to catch a deer still dozing. She walked silently no movement of the brush or shrubs would give her away. She was being too careful for that. Slowly Bryna grinned as she spotted her prey, a lone deer still sleeping quietly in the brush.
Stalking slowly up to the deer Bryna pounced on it clamping her jaws tight around its neck. Startled the deer struggled to get up its limbs flailing about in its panicked attempt. Bryn continued to hold on tightly snarling in pain as the deer stepped on her stomach in its futile attempt to get up. The deer was slowly losing air and Bryn snarled louder in pain at being kicked yet again. Several kicks and many minutes later the deer lay dead and Bryna stood panting heavily over it before letting out a soft whimper of pain and falling to her side.

[Hey, maybe we could start the fox idea here RC? If so I could post and have a fox come, and as s/he would live here its entire life, s/he would know the herbs and stuff, and would be able to heal them both up....?]

While freaking out over his missing mate would've been ideal, Icarus knew she couldn't be far. Using his nose, he followed her scent into the woods. As he followed, her scent was soon accompanied by the scent of deer and blood. Knowing that the blood was probably the deer's, Icarus relaxed a little and slowed his walk. When he came upon the scene and saw Bryn laying on her side, he rushed over, tripping over himself as he hurried to her side. "Are you okay? What's wrong?!" Her only response was a low moan. "Bryna! Can you hear me?" No answer. Frantic, he raced around her, not sure what to do. His mind racing, he grabbed her scruff and tried dragging her. This resulted in a moan and a snarl. "I don't know what to do Bryna! What should I do?" Moving her wasn't an option, and she was took weak to move herself anywhere, so he was forced to sit there and watch her suffer. Suddenly, the gears in his mind started turning. His mate was in trouble, and he was just sitting there! He dashed off into the forest to find some large leaves to drape over her for warmth and some moss to soak up water with. After finding the huge leaves and putting them on her, he scraped some moss off of a nearby tree and ran to the stream to get her a drink. After soaking the moss thoroughly, he brought it back to her and squeezed the water out over her forehead, letting the cool refreshing water trickle down her face. He went to the stream a second time to get her some drinking water. He thought he saw something that resembled a fox on his way to the stream, but he didn't have time to address it. After returning to her and getting water down her throat, he laid down in front of her and rested her head on his belly. After a little bit, he fell asleep, still petrified with worry for her.
