SYMPHONY
No one can hear me scream
Maybe it's just a dream
No one can hear me scream
Maybe it's just a dream
The fire was downwind from the Abandoned City, the smoke and smell kept far from the empty streets. Or seemingly empty. Only one wolf seemed to wander the lands, but right now? She was asleep. After all, she'd hunted earlier and had her fill, now she was just laying on her side, sleeping peacefully on the mattress that was underneath of her, offering it's comfort.
The fire had spread rapidly, easily consuming the decrepit buildings and flammable objects the city held within it's grasp. It snaked and wound through, eating everything in it's path. The smoke was billowing in the heart of the fire as it grew, feasting on everything around it. A wall of sheer orange and red heat crawled around the city, moving from building to building.
The scent of smoke finally stirred the golden female, and her eyes opened slowly before her lungs spasmed and she rolled off the bed, coughing from the blinding and choking cloud of black. Fire?! Her body locked up, and she did the first thing her mind told her to.
Run.
She bolted for the exit, yelping as flames leaped up, greedily reaching for her and singing her fur. She turned her body, scrambling back from it. Was she trapped?! She looked around blindly, spotting the window. No, she wasn't trapped. Without even thinking about it, she barreled towards the glass, jumping and crashing into it. She free fell for ten feet to the ground, hitting the cracked concrete before rolling and quickly struggling to her feet. The fire was everywhere. Her ears slammed down on her head and she panicked, taking off towards the borders of the city, avoiding crashing buildings and walls of fire.
She was panting from the heat that was swelling over the burning city. She had to get out, or she would surely die within the blaze. Panicked, she ran along the border, finally stepping back, feeling defeated. There HAD to be a way. Just had to. She wasn't giving up! She couldn't. She knew in her mind that others were getting out right now, and she'd be damned if she would roll over and take it without a fight. Her muscles tightened and she ran straight for the fire in her path, leaping over it. She could smell singed fur the moment before she hit the ground and crashed into the massive clearing, rolling. It took her a moment to stand up, and she looked back on the burning city. Her home.
Beyond the city was the Forest Of Lust, a place she could no longer reach, burning. Grief struck her, and tears poured down her face as she watched it burn, feeling her heart breaking and falling apart. Everything. It was gone. Rallan...
A renewed pain hit her, causing her to stagger. She was safe from the blaze, but not from the pain. Her head tilted back, letting out her howl of sadness before her head dropped. Reluctantly, she turned away from the burning forest, staggering forwards. She didn't know where she was going, or if she would make it. But, she still moved forwards.
