Tharin took a step back, his head turned to the side as he finally focused on a trembling leaf. Stuck in limbo between the stream and the shore, it dangled precariously off a thin branch before finally giving in to the wind's demand and was quickly swallowed by the creek. Part of him wished he could do the same, just allow this to wash over and everything would be right again. He bit his lip, not knowing how he could get her to trust what he was telling her was the truth. He finally allowed his gaze to wander up towards her dark frame, taking a seat behind her. Tharin let out a heavy sigh, trying to release whatever negative emotions he had before starting.
"I just have to say one thing before I start.... Eclipse, you have to believe me when I say I love you. I do, I wouldn't have rushed to be your mate if I didn't. I didn't want to loose you to someone else and I've always, always been faithful, please don't doubt it for an instant." He shifted uncomfortably for a moment. The mere thought of it stung more than anything she could've said, he was utterly devoted to her, how could she not know that? "I guess I'll start from the top... Liotie and I met when we were both fairly young, we knew nothing of what real love was and our relationship only existed for sex and someone to talk to when the day draws to a close. We had little affection for each other, you may ask her if you'd like. She'll no doubt say the same. Yet somehow, she conceived our first litter. Like I said, we were young and as a result... the cubs... the cubs were born underweight and too early. There were four of them, two of which died within hours of birth, Nienna... Nienna and her brother were fighters." Tharin sighed again and he swallowed hard, tears were welling in his eyes at the memory of them. How old was Nienna now? Two, maybe? It had to be that long since he'd seen her... "But they were also halfbreeds... An insult to Liotie's upbringing and she said it brought dishonor to her family. They put a ransom on the heads of our cubs and... and me. They wanted us to just disappear, that Liotie would settle down with one of the coyotes they'd picked for her... She wouldn't have it and I... I ran. Just like that... I was just a kid. I was scared and selfish... I didn't think twice about them. When I returned, I learned my son was killed when he was playing by the sea... They drowned him, Eclipse. Can you imagine?" Tharin's voice moved into monotone as he spoke the last sentence... his eyes glazing over as the memory took hold. His lip curled in a vicious half-snarl, his sharp teeth gnashed as his blood boiled. He looked terrifying, though it was not directed at his mate. It was a mixture of pity and hatred directed entirely at himself. "Because of my foolish actions, my cowardice, I lost everything... My cubs, Liotie... It had nothing to do with the fact that I'm a nomad, I was scared. Self-preservation took a higher priority then and Eclipse, I'll be honest now, I wanted to take that to my grave..." Tharin finished, his past finally out on the table for her to see. His paws clenched and unclenched the soil, his claws digging deep wounds into the topsoil, anxiously awaiting her response and trying to keep from crying again. [/blockquote]

Eclipse was unsure whether or not she would be able to hear his story and believe, but she wanted to hear what his excuse was, and what she could about his "history".
"I'm finding it hard to not be doubtful on that argument." Her voice was distant and cold as she replied to his claims of loving her and being a loyal mate. Her eyes flashed with silver fire.
"She was willing to stand against her family for you and your young and you left her to fend for them all alone anyways, giving into fear and self preservation instead of love and loyalty, and protectfulness, as any father, true or not to his mate, should for his own flesh and bone? You useless coward." Eclipse spoke through clenched teeth, true emotion finally showing, but not sorrow or pity. It was disgust and disrespect, and growing dislike.
"You realize those cubs died because of you? They would have lived had you stayed and fought like a true brute, a true father." Eclipse spat out, standing up, tears gone from her eyes except for silvery damp spots around the edges of her silver eyes, the anger in them bringing out the blue slivers and slices that were abstract throughout her pupils. "How do I know you won't turn like that on me when I have pups? When I need protecting? When our pups are born into this world and need a loyal, protective, true father to guard them with his life, even if it means he and his mate might lose their lives to save their youngs' lives? I don't know!" She stalked closer to him, tail lashing, paws scraping the earth raw with every step as her claws gripped and tore through its surface, her eyes alight and her lips lifted to show the very tips of her long, dangerous fangs.
"By the way," She paused, voice hard, cruel, and calculating. "I'm pregnant." She dropped the bomb, hard, and harsh. The regret and sorrow in her voice, making it clear that she would go back and never have mated with him if she could, sorry that her pups would have such a father, only made the words that much more hurtful for him. "You don't understand... I know my son died because of me, it's a thought that'll never go away..." Tharin sighed, finally braking down again. The thought of his son's last moments followed nearly every quiet moment he had, haunting his mind like a residual ghost and playing the tape of it over and over. Several large tears coursed down his cheek, his sobs were soft as he tried to hide them from her.
"I was a coward then... Eclipse, I've change. I'm not afraid to die for my family, I'm not afraid to die for you." Tharin whispered bitterly. Right now, he would relish death, it'd be so much quicker than having to deal with a pissed-off mate, a homicidal ex and a missing daughter. His ears pricked at her last sentence and he looked up, the faintest of faint smiles spread over his features.
"That's wonderful news," the brute whispered, his head still low. "Whe... When are you due?"

Eclipse watched Tharin without pity, anger and hurt still fighting a raging battle within her heart, mind, and soul. Her heart said second chances are worthy to anyone, even him, her mind said forget him, he screwed his life, don't let him screw yours, and her soul was breaking down with shock and hurt.
"I am not sure I would say wonderful, not now." Eclipse retorted. "Maybe when I was still madly in love with you I would have. We could have been dancing, kissing, feasting now. Instead you're sobbing like a fool, and I am being proven a fool." Her eyes were cold, emotions gone from them. She could always hide her feelings if she needed to. "They are due within the month, but probably sooner then later." She watched his eyes fall on her rounded belly.

Tharin sniffed a little, his face contorting when he swiped a massive paw over his nose. Words couldn't express the strange mixture of grief and joy --- Eclipse's cold tone was a dagger to his heart and he had a troubling gut-instinct that she would leave him given half the chance.. but a faint hope coursed through his mind, he might have a chance to prove himself a worthy father again. Nothing he did would bring his son back and while he would forever grieve for his lost one, perhaps he could make-up for his mistakes.
"Eclipse, there's nothing I would like more than to celebrate this... I know you hate me right now, but is there anything I can do for you?" Tharin murred, his eyes nervously watching the sun duck behind a thick patch of clouds. The fresh scent of rain clung in the air, rejuvenating the old trees and exciting the little forest flowers. "Is there any way I can make amends...?" He asked. Tharin's voice was soft and earnest, as if he were asking her if this was truly the end of the wonderful, spirited love they had for each other. "I am sorry," Eclipse said, eyes softening. "But I don't think so." She shook her head, emotions finally flooding through to show her pain and anger, but also her love, which was slightly faded from what it used to be.
She backed away, whimpering softly, and turned, walking away. She found Liotie, and stood near her. "I can't. I am sorry." She whispered.

Tharin couldn't feel the rain that started to dot his dusty coat, nor could he hear the laughter of lightning thundering above him. All that mattered to him had come crashing down in a disgraceful pile of lies and fear. He felt nothing. No anger or love, just a painfully cold numbness. Isn't this the part where the man chases her down, professes how he couldn't live without her and they live happily ever after...? Tharin let out a painted sigh as he watched her go before turning away, himself. his white tailtip disappearing into the brush. No. Love is not a fairytale, it's a fickle, poignant thing that only lasts until one partner gets bored of the other.
-_-_-_-_-_-
Liotie lay on her side, she too was watching the sky. Hoping the cleansing rain would wash away all her troubles, but the clouds continued to hold out near her part of the forest. Darkening and brewing while streaks of white dotted the farthest reaches of the heavens. Her ears flicked as Eclipse spoke, but her gaze remained trained on the strengthening storm.
"I figured you wouldn't..." the coyote whispered with a cat-like flick of her tail. "Desperation breeds stupidity and I apologize for ever causing trouble for you. It was wrong of me to ask. After all, you don't even know me and it's clear he wants nothing to do with any of this." Her voice was calm, disturbingly so. It was as if she was simply reading off a grocery list. She rose to her feet without so much as a glance towards the pregnant wolf, her tail twitching in clear annoyance. "If you'll excuse me, I have to rescue my daughter..."
[OCC: Should we end the thread soon? I can make a seperate one for Nienna and the other imprisoned females...]

[Sure! I have an idea. How about after we end this thing, and Eclipse has given birth, sometime in the years to come one of their pups comes, and finds Tharin, and they talk and whatnot? It would be an interesting thread. A young wolf desperate to know what life was like for its parents, maybe angry at the world, or something? xP]
Eclipse nodded, absentmindedly, and turned, trudging off into the distance. She felt a slight tug, telling her to go back, to help despite her hurt soul and heart. It was her conscience. But for now she ignored it, and moved onward.
[Should she go back and help, and that would be the next thread, or maybe Liotie and Tharin don't find their daughter, and one of Eclipse/Tharin's pups comes back as a two year old or whatever, and helps him find her? Or something? Idk, I feel full of ideas. lol! Or should we just end contact with them, and let Tharin move on to Nikita?]

[OCC: Eclipse could just leave Liotie to her own devices and Tharin could attempt to track the captor down, but doesn't have any success. I think the two of them having a son would be neat ^^; He could over-power Aztec and bring back his sister to Liotie and her new tribe. After which we can either have him fall for a coyote (like his father), one of the other half-breed captives who lived with Nienna or just let him go home. How's that sound? :3]

[Sounds fun! You wanna RP the son then? And I could RP the coyote/half-breed fae?]
Eclipse disappeared, off in the distance, to go find a spot to raise her soon-to-be newborns.
