Nico stopped what he was doing. He looked at the brute, cold incredulity in his eyes. "Fine. I'll leave, and you can keep feeding her the 'medicine'. It doesn't affect me if she dies, or if she lives. I am a native to the land, and us Less Foxes are Healers. So I like to heal, but really it would save me the effort if you chased me off and let her die. We have limited supply of herbs, and overall her dieing would help all us Less Foxes." He snapped, eyes flashing. His coat was a deep red, his tail a brilliant white in comparison, and it lashed back and forth with anger. "Well then, goodbye." He snorted. He was unwilling to put up with crap from a Less Outsider. He turned around and trotted out, leaving the clearing, and the brute to his dieing mate.

Icarus grunted with frustration as the fox started walking away. He looked at his dying mate. Okay, he'd made a mistake, but that didn't mean the fox had to be such a jerk about it. If he really was a healer he would help her no matter what. Well, legitimate healer or not, Bryna needed help. It was hard for Icarus to not be her hero. Ever since he met her, he'd been her savior. He now had to hand this responsibility to someone else. Someone he didn't know or even trust. Mustering up as much courage as possible, he called out "Hey, I'm sorry. Please come back and help my mate."

Nico paused, a small smile on his lips. He had done this many times before. The stupid inexperienced wolves that had started polluting his forest with their naive-ness often got themselves in trouble. All it took was for him to doom their loved ones, and 'leave'. He would never let another creature actually die, but by pretending to leave them to die he often got them to stop fighting him. And if he didn't, he would come back with a few other foxes and make them let him help them.
"Good. You see sense." He snorted lightly, and came back. He finished checking her pulse. It was slow, but going a little faster now. Her body was taking the strength from the poultice already, using it to fight off the poison, taking back its' own territory. Hopefully she would heal fast, so that night he could give her another poultice and some more herbs, and then she should be fine.
He waved his tail, and went into the bushes surrounding the clearing without another word. Soon he was back, with huge oak leaves, and he draped them over her body, dripping wet. "Oak heals. It would be better if there were humans nearby. Their fires are easy to steal, and a steaming oak leaf does the best, but there are none, so we will have to make do without." Nico said simply, finishing putting the last leaf in place. Her entire body was covered in the wet leaves now. Oak leaves have a soaking property, so when placed over a sick or poisoned creature, it would help soak in the toxic sweat, which Nico was creating by coating her in the warm leaves. The water would rinse the sweat off as well.

Bryna slowly began to wake up whimpering softly at the pain. Everything hurt from her toes to the tips of her ears. She was still drifting in and out of consciousness and couldn't help but give a strangled yelp as pain shot through her body once more. She was certain there was something wrong with the pups but she wasn't able to say anything.
As she continued to drift in and out of the real world she realized vaguely that she was incredibly hot and that she was sweating. Bryn tried to move to get more comfortable but only succeeded in giving a soft moan of pain before drifting back into blackness.

"Bryn? Bryna! What's happening to her?" He asked the mysterious fox. Icarus had been trying to take mental notes on what the fox was doing, but it was being done so fast that all he felt he could do was watch in horror as his mate slipped furthur and furthur away from him.
He tried to think of happy moments with Bryna, to get his mind off of her pain and let the fox handle it. It wasn't his department. He thought back to finding her, torn and alone, and then nursing her back to what she was today. His mate. If only he could nurse her physically as well as mentally! Then he'd be the perfect mate! The fox stepped back and said "I've done all I can do, the rest is up to her." Icarus was confused. "What does that mean?" He retorted. The fox sighed and said "If her will to live is good enough, she can pull through. If she feels dying would be easier, so be it."
